Mortgage Market Growth & Risk Screening — Python Project
DSO 576 team project exploring mortgage-market growth and risk through lending and consumer-complaint data.
Project and deliverable
We are developing a Python-based market-screening dashboard to help a bank strategy or risk manager compare mortgage markets and identify areas for growth or closer review. The coursework includes a cleaned dataset, reusable metric functions, and a dashboard specification.
Skills used
Python, pandas, data cleaning, joins, aggregation, metric design, and documenting data limitations.
Data and interpretation
The project uses HMDA mortgage-lending data and CFPB consumer-complaint data. These sources describe different populations, so complaint-to-origination comparisons are screening signals rather than verified borrower complaint rates.
Status
Team coursework in progress. No completed deployment or measured business impact is claimed.
